Keep Kentucky Learning
Don't cut our children's education.
Nothing is more important to Kentucky's future than our children's education.
- Kentucky's future prosperity depends on the children who are in our schools today becoming successful, contributing citizens.
- Too many of our children live in poverty and are not healthy. Quality public schools are their best hope of overcoming these barriers to learning and improving their lot in life.
- We must all accept our obligation to educate our children for the high skill, high paying jobs of the future, jobs we must attract to Kentucky.
Our children will never move forward if we have to start over.
- Since 1990 the people of Kentucky have invested to build the system of public schools that our children deserve. Our schools are much better today as a result.
- Our children - and the women and men who serve them in our schools - have worked hard to make the best use of that investment.
- Every study of Kentucky schools lists them near the top in achieving student success and getting the most out of every dollar invested in school improvement.
- Cuts to children's education, in safe schools, preschool, extended school services, professional development and textbooks have already slowed down our progress.
Kentucky has an obligation to its public schools
- Public schools are among only three state services required by our commonwealth's constitution.
- The people of Kentucky need and expect a lot from their public schools. Parents have a right to expect a quality, adequately-funded school for their children.
- Teachers and other school employees continue to meet their obligations. Legislators should not back away from their responsibility to fund public schools adequately.
