Engaging Community Members in "Keep Kentucky Learning" Activities
Existing and potential cuts to education also impact parents and the community. Please invite community members to participate in your building, local and district activities in your efforts to "Keep Kentucky Learning".
Here are suggestions for inviting community members to participate:
- Ask retired school employees and parents to hand out stickers or buttons at school and community events.
- Call the local media to publicize Black and Blue Day events.
- Invite local union members to attend Black and Blue Day events, wearing black and blue.
- Ask local Chamber of Commerce members to publicize Black and Blue Day events at their places of business.
- Invite parents and PTA members to participate in and help at Black and Blue Day events: decorating the school, making buttons and stickers, bringing refreshments, etc.
- Ask retired school employees in your area to help with and participate with Black and Blue Day events.
- Invite local legislators to participate in Black and Blue Day events at your school.
- Ask parents and retired school employees to take photos at school and community events.
